Wow! Big congrats!!! That's a heck of a catch. Are you thinking of doing a mount or sending it to auction?

Might want to sell that one to a taxidermist if you are not keeping it!

Long way from your neck of the woods, but I don't think there has ever been a complaint on any of his work.

Pretty sure some of the other trappers will have suggestions for someone closer to you.

Here is a current thread on taxidermists that you may want to browse. http://www.outdoorsmenforum.ca/showthread.php?t=273080

He would be worth a lot more as a mount then as a pelt. Those big guys aren't worth a lot at the best of times.

For those new to trapping, Fisher are the only animals where smaller is better.

The bigger they are the less they are worth.

I thought it was a wolverine at first before I looked at his head. Those paws are huge too

I know right. Got to see his tracks in the light dusting of snow we had and was quite happy to see him in the snare. I could see him up through the bush in the snare and was thinking holy crap a wolverine. Then when I got to him I could see he was a fisher and a Biggin.

I thought it was a wolverine also. Is it common for fisher to have that white patch?

Have to say I wasn't sure if it was a wolverine also from the first pic. Iv'e only seen one Fisher in the wild and this was this year when I clubbed one to death that had been hit by a vehicle. I thought that one was big but yours looks massive. Congrats on that catch.

There's a guy in Cherry Grove down by Cold Lake who did a fisher for a friend of a friend that turned out really well. It was shot on a nuisance animal permit so there were repairs/sewing involved. It only cost the fella about $300! He got the name of the guy from a gun/pawn shop just south of Cold Lake on the highway. I'll see if I can find out the fella's name and number.

He's got quite a coat. He only weighs 11 pounds. I would've guessed 13lbs when I pulled him from the snare

Default 13 Pound Fisher

This is what a 13 pounder looks like! Caught him a couple of weeks ago. That's a belisle 160 his head is in for comparison. Verified his weight on both my digital scale at home and another trapper's scale at his place. Exactly 13.0 lbs! I find guessing their weight deceiving based on visual size. You need to weigh them to get an accurate measurement of their size. Right now he's in the freezer waiting to go to the taxidermist!

Uke do you know the condition of the Athabasca river yet! With these warmer weather, I'm concerned about the ice conditions to cross to our line
