Jim I know my mileage probably isn't smoking hot but I'm hard pressed to burn a tank in a day unless i'm pulling heavy loads on unbroke trail. I'm with you on the Kms, we did 2800 last winter but also did some wolverine work.

Glendon is about 30 km north of St. Paul(or 90 km South West of Cold Lake). Our Trapline is north of Glendon about 20 minutes. We have quite a few fisher, but we are a little too far south for marten.

Moose maniac, this was my first time putting pictures up. All I did was put them from the camera on to the computer, then clicked on manage attachments on the bottom of the reply page, and put them on individually. Seemed to work good, maybe someone has a better way though. Good job on the lynx and wolves.

Default Trapping

Here are a few pictures of some of the furs I got this season so far. It has been a good season for me for catching coyotes but over half of them had mange. I am still going hard after them though, caught two more small coyotes today and hope to have more tomorrow.

Jim, it's an 09 with the tie rods etc., I've seen the new style but am not sure
about them. Wll hopefully get some feedback before next season.
The forecast is good so will be catching supper at Two Lakes very soon.
Back in a week.
Stay safe.

Default Some pics off the line.

Went out on sat and checked part of the line. I had built a trail groomer and really wanted to test it out, so headed down the roughest trail. The groomer has a willow cutter right in the front made out of a cutting edge from a Cat crawler. Was impressed how well it cuts willows and small trees, just have to make sure it's sharp.

Sun was going down, so got couple pics of the sunset.

Found with this type of set, i had wired the trap too tight to the tree and the springs had to push the trap up to close. Still did the job, love the Belisle.

Nice pics Jim. That Marten set looks mighty familiar. Glad it caught something. Oh, I thought you never had time to stop on the trail for lunch...

Well my little trap line finally gave me some action again. On Saturday I had 1 Marten, 2 Weasel, 6 Squirrel and also shot a coyote at my bait pile so it was a pretty good day

Default Groomer

Groomer is out on the line but had a pic of it before it was done.

It will cut anything i can run over with the ski doo. A tree 1" dia cuts easy, just feel a tug as it cuts off. Just sharpen the blade, I carry a file in case i hit a rock, or dirt.

Ok, here are the dimensions, 12' long and 40" outside. Frame is made of 2" angle iron, the cutting edge is 3/4'x 4". It's mounted on a hinge so i can adjust the angle to conditions. Just welded nuts on the top of the blade with bolts going through the frame. It's adjusted up in the pic, for cutting i move it down so it's flush with the bottom of the frame.

The angle iron blades further back are 2" as well and welded 1/4" below the frame so they cut deeper, with the V of the angle iron pointing back. It picks up the snow and rolls it forward. The middle angle iron does most of the work, maybe add another blade between the front two.

In the pic you can see outside cutters, but i removed them as bite into big trees on sharp corners in tight trails. Work well on small stuff though.

The hitch was left over from another project. I welded a bit of a rack on the back so i could strap on a tub to haul stuff if needed. Or throw on some weight if you use a bigger machine.

If i would build another, I would extend the hitch to at least 4' so the willows rise up better and use 2" square tubing for a sturdier frame.

Sure does a does a job on the willows i stick into the trail by my Lynx snare sets. Have to throw them aside and reset after.

No lynx this week and not many martin but the eastern set was fairly good. The bobcat, coyote and wolf were all within 10 meters from eachother!!

Caught my first Fisher and first Fox! The Fisher thought it would be a good idea to destroy a Mink box, gotta love Belise traps. To bad he had an old war wound that cost him most of his tail. Nice clean snare on the Fox.

Default Couple pics

A little late getting the pictures up but better late then never. Got out with the father in law for a few days over New Years then out with the old man for a few days last week. Ice is thick and so were the beaver. Made 8 sets and connected on 6 good ones. 28 Marten so far this year. Picked up 10 on the last check before pulling them for the year. 1 Fisher and a little weasel rounded out that day. Lynx movement has been pretty slow and for some reason wolves are non-existant on the line this year. Heard some rumors of a local farmer loading up dead cows with poison over the summer but who knows. Bait piles are out and the coyotes and fox are starting to make regular appearences. Mr. Wolverine has been through twice and helped himself to a coulple fresh caught Marten then destroyed a log cubby set which had the better part of a beaver in it for bait. The new sled is performing flawlessly and I got to explore some new territory which is always a blast. Hope all you trappers out there are enjoying your winter as much as I am.

Tork

The last pic isn't exactly from trapping but the cougar we killed that day did have a number three soft catch on his front paw. No pic of the cat as I didn't kill it so it's not mine to post. The dog seemed to have the right idea.
