I just crossed the firebag for the first time this last weekend. And looking at the Athabasca while crossing the bridge to nowhere....it has been frozen over for a few weeks now. Don't know where you cross but am thinking you should be able to cross by now. Supposed to be some colder temperatures this week. Should help firm it up!

Why is that? (I'm not a trapper)

Fur quality goes down with size in this case

Anyways I am getting it mounted.

You need to weigh them to get an accurate measurement of their size. Right now he's in the freezer waiting to go to the taxidermist!
that is heavy. Couldn't believe they got that big till now. My first fisher dwarfed my martens and was around 6 pounds? 11 pounds was an eye opener and 13!? crazy.

does yours have the white patch on the chest? My first one did not.

Male fisher fight, a lot. The smaller dark females have much nicer fur without the scares.

I have found females average around 6 pounds and the males around 10. My biggest was 13 pounds and filled the board pretty good.
Females are preferred as their fur is silkier.

Thanks. He is a beauty for sure.
I already have one tanned and hanging at my place.
I’m hoping to find someone that wants him for a mount. I’d hate to send him off to auction as just another fur, get more out of him as a mount for sure.
