Default finding trap line owner?

A friend stated they had my grandfathers name on a grazing lease renewal as the trap line holder. He has passed, although he did have a trap line in that area in the 70's, How would I go about clearing this up? just go to Fish & wildlife?

What part of the country is this ? I'm surprised they wouldn't have the current trappers name on file, or that they have the trappers name listed on the grazing lease documentation in the first place.

Tork, its west of Rocky. I believe it would just simply be a notation of who has access rights to the land is all, just to put the grazing lease holder and trappers contacts togeather. I'm sure its just paperwork that is requiring an update from years ago. From what I remember of our trapping there would be no way we could still own it and have not been recieving any information on it for 40yrs. I'm just curious who I would contact about it.
