Opens April 1st. Ice fishing or open water it doesn't matter.

I was in Elkwater last Tuesday and Elkwater lake was still frozen solid. Should be good to go unless it gets ridiculously warm. I wanted to go myself for the opener but I'm heading down to Havre MT for a conference.

Well I guess its me that should take a look at the regs. Im live in Calgary now and have the flyrod out for the Bow. But if I can get a daddy rainbow out of there before I put al the hardwater gear away I just might take the trip.

Ice was getting rotten along edges last week. There was a tiny open patch by the boat launch. Be very careful if you go on the ice.
