Great story and pictures. I thought my Ryan Lake thread had a lot of pictures. Looks like a lot of fun. I've flown in with Mikisew Sportfishing 9 years in a row and I love it. I kind of prefer to clean my own fish, cook my own meals, and be left to fend for myself, but maybe some year I could try and let someone else do some of it for me. Regardless, to have access to a remote place like this is something I've become very fond of, and can't wait to do it again next year. Maybe, you'll become 'hooked' (pun intended) on it too. GN

Nice pics and good story Jay.

Looks like you boys had a good time.

Good to see you getting out to hook some lip Terry after your injury.

What a great trip, top 3 of my life..... So far.

Some pics to set it up....

I think me and jays bill was $500+ on booze alone. Never seems to go bad around our crowd though.

We ran out Thursday morning:-( we weighed in at 2100 lbs with 6 guys beer and gear. Dude said we could have squeezed another 2-300lbs, so we know for next time 3 more Costco 55 packs of beer!!

Annnnnnd I just dropped a whole lemon marange pie on the floor! To be continued......

Heck no! Lucky lager is all good.

About a 45 minutes flight with awesome views, Daryl put it best looking at a map of northern sask it's like someone flicked it with a paintbrush with blue paint.

Jay hooked me up with a very simple rig for lakers! I had never fished for them before and we hammered them all week! Nothing huge ranged from 2-6lbs. They get a lot bigger outta there but what I'm told is early spring and late fall is when the big boys come out to play. Didn't matter to us we were content catching these all week long and perfect eating size.

Jays disclaimer says it all! And we all stand by it. That being said my brother mike (red headed step child) caught the big one of the trip at 15 1/2lbs out of a small lake we journeyed into. It was hooked pretty good and ended up floating so he decided to keep for supper. We like to think we are pretty respectful guys and understand the effects of keeping a big fish like this are.... However keep in mind these lakes see very little pressure what so ever and it was a meal for either the birds or us!

More to come.....

Now the fishing up there is just crazy during the spring and fall, but I like the nice warm weather and swimming and stuff so that's why I chose late August. And did we ever get nice weather. I think we had 1 over cast morning. Other than that it was mid 20's and the water was like glass 90% of the time. And not to get all gay but the sunsets were awesome.

More to come.....

Great pics and write up.

Brings back a lot of great memories of the fly in trips we used to do back in the day. A lifetime of memories and stories to tell for sure.

Jay did a bang up job on this thread so I'll leave with a couple pics and say get your butts up to vermilionlakeoutfitters.com and see for yourself.

Drunk and high as all heck, relaxing on the boat.

Again drunk as a skunk!! With my dad. I'm sure like many growing up you knew it all and your folks were the enemy. That was the case with me but now all grown up my dad is one of best friends and his trips are bought and paid for till he's no longer mobile enough to go.

This was our final stop at some dive bar in ashmont and we finished the trip off right!! The boys driving were good boys and patient with those of us who weren't . Trip of a life time.

Man Steve you have no idea just how awesome that trip was!

I stopped by Terry's last night to pick up a CD full of more pics from Gary and Doug and we were already talking about next year's trip!

We start planning our trip for next year at Bischto while we're loading the gear into the wagon to get to the airstrip to leave this year.

Holy heck, looks like just an amazing time guys!!!

Really, really good pictures as well. Nothing better than a week straight in the wilderness, whether fishing, hunting, or just walking.

So, I'm curious. How did the squirrel taste? hahaha.
