Default What to put on Sunburn

I was out all day today without a hat or sunscreen. My head and the back of my neck are already burnt and radiating heat. Anybody know what I can put on it now so it doesn't set in too bad overnight?

No, I'm not posting pics! LOL!

Personally I put a little rubbing alchohol on my cuts, scrapes, and sunburns.

I'm not sure if it makes it better or worse, but it may have some placebo effect.

Huntinstuff was referring to Zinc Oxide cream.

That is the best. It is also a full sunscreen.

I was up at keeley lake last week for 5 days fishin for walleye, got one hell of a sunburn on my legs... I use Gilette Body wash for itchy/dry skin, and I found it took away alot of the sting.

I reburned my legs 3 days in a row.... Sunscreen was no use, but fishing was unreal!

Read this after I posted. I put some Vinegar on it; and G.D.! if it didn't take the pain away! Would have never guessed that vinegar would cool a sunburn.
Now I'm gonna get some Zinc oxide cream and Aloe Vera and see which works best.

Aloe, Aloe gel. Have heard vinegar works, which is why ketchup may work as well.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Haven't tried vinegar but will have to now. Maui Babe after tanning I have found amazing for burns. Works far better than anything else I have seen used.

I usually use the spray can of Solarcaine- Numbs the pain instantly and the spray is a lot more less irritating than rubbing on creams.

Most people say I am crazy when I tell them to use white vinegar on a sun burn. It works like a hot damn. I should I say a cold damn. Takes the heat out of the burn and then you can use some aloe cream.

Without a doubt VINEGAR!!!! i have done the aloe vera in the past but was convinced to try vinegar. What a difference. It will greatly reduce peeling and the instant cooling is second to none. As well, you don't have the sticky feeling some aloe vera gells give you. I just soak a rag or paper towel and place it on the burnt area. I was convinced by a very fair skinned lady who swears by it and uses nothing else. If it is really bad on the shoulders she just pours it on her sleeves so it soaks for longer. It doesn't stain and the smell will go away on its own.

I prefer to call it "Jiffy Surprise." LOL!

So I went to the drugstore and the pharmasist said that Zinc Oxide is very good at preventing sunburn but will probably dry out an existing burn. He recommended aloe vera. I put some of it on when I got home and it helps. I am going to alternate the Aloe and vinegar.

I still can't believe how well the vinegar is helping this burn.

Thanks Darin. It definitely helped. I burn quite easily and with a bald head and a nasty sunburn, I thought I was going to be in for a sore night and a few sore days. I don't even feel burnt right now. I would say that 50% of the burn pain was gone instantly and the rest of the pain was gone within a few minutes.

Learned something new today that's for sure.

White vinegar and aloevera, work the best! My Mom used to put a jar of Noxema in the fridge and put it on our sunburns when we were kids. It was cold and moist and felt good!

Best stuff I have ever used. I call it the "vacation saviour", I don't go anywhere hot without it anymore.
