Shimano Stradic CI4+ vs Pflueger Patriarch
Looking at these two for a Fenwick elite tech walleye 6'9" 1 pc rod. The Shimano in a 2500FA and the Pflueger in a 9535x. $239 vs $199. I have not used either one of these. Currently use a 6'3" Quantum Smoke rod with a Smoke size 15 reel.
Any input would be much appreciated.
Thanks, Ken

Shimano all day IMO, I have the Shimano and it is hands down the most reliable and enjoyable spinning reel I've used.

The Stradic reel has an excellent drag system. The extra $40 is well worth it.

definitely a Stradic. Makes a nice reel to pass along to your kids/grandkids cause it will last that long.

Shimano is the clear choice between these two candidates ..... hands down.
I would also consider the Abu Garcia Revo Sx or Revo Premier as other excellent options long before considering a Pflueger.

You just missed the sale at WSS, Stradics were 20 - 40% off..I own 1000 - 4000 size Stradics and cant complain about the quality and performance, I'm not a Shimano guy but I have Stellas ranging from 2500 up to 20000.

If it's the CI4 you’re looking at you definitely want the new one, CI4+. During the Sportsman show in March, Shimano had the new one and the old one side by side to test and the difference was remarkable! The new one has X ship and a much stronger carbon frame compared to last year’s model.
Have a great season

As mentioned above the new CI4+ has Xship which for me is worth its weight in gold. Are display at the sportsman show was incredible at showing how well Xship works and everyone could feel the difference first hand as cube mentioned. Any reel will feel smooth with no load on it, but once that load is added thats the true test. This is where XShip shines keeping the reel super smooth and placing less stress on the gearing. If you need any more info on them or other shimano reels let me know.
