Good for you guys to find sheds right now. I went out for a walk today and the snow was past my knees still around Red Deer, may have to invest in some lightweight snow shoes ...or wait for the snow to melt.

Found my first for the year today in 248. The cool thing is I found the left antler from the same buck last year, thats only the second time I've been able to match an antler up with its predecessor. I have some good snow shoes which make it alot easier. This years shed scores 58" which isn't much better than last years 52" because he is only 3 maybe 4 years old when he grew this years, i would have expected more growth. Good luck to everyone else you have some truly amazing sheds I can only dream of.

Really put on some miles in the last while with not lots to show for it. Found a small 4 point on a trail last week. Managed to find a match set today laying 30 feet apart on top of a hill where the wind blew the snow down to only a few inches deep. I reckon they were dropped in the last couple days as there was a fair amount of blood on the bases.

Dog brought home a nice 4 point shed today Just a very young deer but has 10" g2 and 9" g3. Will be a nice one in a few years. Went for a walk today but the snow is up to my knees still.

I was up by Athabasca aswell and saw some very good sign but no antlers. It seems that in some areas alot of bucks have shed and in other areas very few have shed. One cool thing from the weekend was we found a small spiker road killed and i thought i'd see if i could knock his antlers of and after a small kick they both popped off, not sure if they count as sheds but still a neat story.

Well i finally got out Shed Hunt'n today in the -30 weather !! Its not bad as long as you dress for it and the slight Breeze that was coming from the West.
So the first one was a 2 point .

The second was a 3 point

The 3rd was a 4 point.

I guess i was out for 2-1/2 hrs or so. I am keeping my eye on the bunch wintering in the area and most are still packing their headgear.
The Days catch.

Those would make AWESOME knife handles! You could also pickup a cheap ice rod and remove the foam handle, and pilot drill into the antler for the rod base. That would be a super deadly ice rod!!

Default Sheds

Every year this same discussion comes up; W.T. Deer Can start dropping their horns in the middle of dec. & can hold on to them until late march-early april - Mule deer Dont generally drop until Jan-April & Elk Drop generally late winter to early spring; their is a lot of differnt ideas out their for antler trap's some better than others; one that i use that works very well is a homeade trap just like the "RackTrap" google Rack trap & you will see

That big 3 is wicked!! It looks like the dropper and the one next to it have a smooth pedical on the back. My deer had that on one side this year. I have never found a shed like that before.

Default sheds

I found a spike and a 120ish 5x5 set of whitetail sheds today. Trailcams show that most bucks have shed but a few are still carrying there horns.
