Calling elk

I know elk will call all day but on a previous thread, if i read correctly the hunter was listening for elk at 4 am. So my question is when are elk more vocal. Under the cover of darkness? early morn? evening?

When it's warm, like it has been in my area, The elk are out at midnight and heading back at 330 or 4 a.m, sounding off at around that time...
