Default For all you guys and gals with small vehicles but big plans....

Some pretty impressive engineering on this trailer. Throw a canoe or aluminum on top and you're good to go.....

(the pdf is 7.5mb so it takes a minute to download)

Very cool. There doesn't seem to be a Canadian distributor for it yet, though.

Back when I lived in edmonton and drove a mazda I built somthing like that. It was a small flat deck, that I could put a trike on, there were some tall racks that fit into pockets so that I could put a canoe over top the trike. I built a plywood sleeper that also could fit under the racks and was meant to be removable but it was too heavy, I always thought that if I could find a way to mold the sleeper out of fiberglass I'd be on to somthing, maby should get back at it.

I dunno folks.
Playing the devil's advocate here, $6200-USD, base price seems a little steep to me...add on the "accessories and it's closer to $7000-USD.
I have a little Patriot that is rated to 2000-lbs, if I add a trannie cooler to it I can tow a half decent tent trailer for about the same price, with it.

Default $7000- yikes!!!

It may be cute but at that price not a chance!! I have a Ranger and can tow enough that many many options are available under $5000. That is a neat looking unit though- sort of reminds me of the hitchhiker of years ago or that Eurostyle fold out tent trailer that a bike could pull.

The cool thing about this (from my perspective) is the versatility it offers. One could purchase a couple of trailers for this price (a utility and a camping), but if you've got limited storage space (like us) this is a really good option. It's also nice that you could tow a quad, camp off of the ground, and potentially throw a canoe on top.

It just proves that there's a market for you, Cal! The sleeper could be made of nylon or canvass. One that could transport and launch a Sea-Doo would be great. I'll be purchasing a trailer with my 2010 income tax return in April of 2011. You've got some time to get building

I emailed the company to find out where these are manufactured. They're manufactured in Ohio. That could certainly account for the increased cost. I haven't checked into where other trailers are manufactured, but I'm very cautious buying anything manufactured in Asia after the issues with lead paint and melamine.

x2 on the versatility factor. Being that this thing has a very small footprint but is basically a swiss army knife on wheels, it may be great for those with small vehicles and very limited storage space. I own a tent trailer with boat and bike racks attached and I have lots of storage space so I'm not considering one. But, I showed this to two of my colleagues who have limited driveway/garage space and smaller vehicles (a Mazda 3 and a Honda Odessy - one also owns a streetbike) and they are both seriously considering it.

Sometimes a higher price doesn't have to equal "bigger" and "more". Sometimes a higher price can mean "effective" too. Just my 2cents.....

So, it only weighs 800 lbs. Factoring in gear of 100-200 lbs, could you tow that much with a quad?

It would depend on the quad and the terrain, but with the low gearing/lower speed of most quads when hauling, and the low tongue weight of the trailer - I think it would pull with ease. I've pulled a (smaller) flatbed with aluminum boat and gear easily through cut lines with a Big Bear and had no issues.

Thinking of doing some bushwacking are we?

Id sell one of mine for 2000, it weighs less than half of that even with the plywood sleeper on it. Can deffinatly be towed with a quad. Working on new sleeper ideas as I speak.
