Default Lucky Kid! pic heavy.

I went to a weekend shift this winter which gives me 4 week days off. The reason I made the move was that my youngest daughter will be going to kinder garden next year and I thought it would be nice to spend a bunch of time with her before she went to school. We've had lots of adventures, but one of our favorite things to do has become ice fishing. I haven't taken many pictures for some reason, but today I finally did... she can find the bottom, set the hook, and land fish all by herself. Pretty good for a 4 year old, caught a few that were almost as big as her!

Awesome man. My 4 year old loves to fish as well. I can't believe how many questions they have though haha. Sure is fun.

Awesome pics buddy.
Good move on deciding to spend more time with her.
She will appreciate that time with you for the rest of her life.

Kids that hunt and fish have no time to rob little old ladies.
( not my quote but I stand by it)

Great job on getting the young people out fishing, that smile is priceless.

You're laying a guilt trip on me, I have a 5 and a 2.5 year old that want to fish with, I need a free weekend and some good weather to combine here soon so I can take them out. Good for you getting her out, sounds like she can almost manage on her own.

Yeah, she's pretty quick, and has always had a knack for picking things up from observing. About all she needs help with is tying knots and unhooking fish. Her older sister also enjoys fishing but being more of an intellectual type of smart, she is not nearly so independent at it despite being several years older.

I was lucky enough to have some time to take care of both of my girls when they were young. Hunting, fishing, and exploring with each of them was/ is a completely different experience, but always fun. They've both taught me at least as much as I've taught them.

Many good memories of ice fishing with my dad and grandfather on Pine Lake. whenever the bobber went down I took off running across the ice with my line and the perch would fly out of the hole.

No more perch in that lake it seems sadly...

Thanks for sharing, this is what an outdoors forum is all about!

Great Story .... nothing like getting kids into the outdoors.

Your next purchase, if you don't have one already is a good camera. It's amazing to watch how excited kids are to see fish swimming around down there. Seems like they could watch the fish for hours.

Good on you for being such a great Dad & teaching your children the values of being part of the great outdoors. A huge congrats to your daughter for her patience & willingness to learn the art of ice fishing....it has already paid off for her at a very young age!
