When the fight ended - Mitty peed his pants when he had a look at her when she started swimming away from the boat. He had a silly grin the rest of the day the whole way back to Edmonton. The boat and truck still smells of urine.

It all went down like this ........

Mitty hooked into something that, immediately, looked to be of a better class of fish, how much better, we soon found out.

She took the lure and started swimming away so I cut the trolling motor and turned the boat so he could position himself to put pressure on her.

The line was straight down, and no head shakes - the sign of a nice big fast and eager prom date as she swam left, then right.

This fat girl pulled line off his spinning reel like it was tied to the bumper of of a submarine. Mitty was climbing all over my boat with his rod bent over 180 degrees as she swam under, around the motor, under the front of the boat, under the trolling motor, etc. She just had her way with him and went where she wanted to.

I had a look at her as she swam past and said "you are really going to love this one buddy" - Mitty shuffled over and promptly said $%^& &*()!!!! . Despite a his excitement - he stayed calm. (he may have farted a little at that point).

Mitty was grinning like a nerd on his first date with the "class ride" the whole time he was fighting her. His face was priceless.

I was positioning the boat the best I could but she was in charge.

Mitty managed to keep pressure on her and slowly worked his way 20 feet closer, for every 15 feet she pulled away. Time after time they exchanged dominance in a tug of war.

Mitty played her like a pro and finally, after a long fight, subdued her and I quickly netted her and his little dinky lure just fell out with the hook almost straightened out.

We took a few measurements, a weight and a few quick pictures and he got her on her way back to fight another day.

Mitty watched her swim away like he was saying goodbye to his favorite grandma at the airport ........... I could swear I saw her wink at him as she turned and passed broad side just to have another look at her captor.

Great work buddy ............. Congrats on a new PB.

It was a thrill to be there and share in the excitement.

I am free - let's do it .......... early morning until mid-day is best.

I'd love to tell your story ........ you just have to catch something big enough worthy.........lol........

Three different guys this year have landed personal bests on my boat - except you and I ........... so we have work to do......... lol

At least we have a great story about dropping your rod in the water then snagging it by accident an hour later ............. unblvbl.

My St.Croix is still on the bottom somewhere ........

Going out Friday with Rod and his buddy ......... chances are Rod and I will not have a story to tell ........ his buddy, on the other hand, will be featured in this week's episode and story time .... lol.

Trophy Pike Hunter landed a really nice fat girl ....... his PB as well ........... but he is the shy type and doesn't post very much ...........

He just handled her like a veteran pro and shrugged it off ........

it has got to be my turn soon ............. I need a REAL BIG one I deserve it ...lol.........33lb would do just fine........

EZM you are one of the best story tellers on here, xcellent play by play. And congratz Mitty on your PB pike, nice fish bud! EZM your comment of the lost rod caught again reminded me of my friend badlildoggy (his AO code name) and me at Pinehurst Lake tourney and we were trolling along when he tagged a nice walleye so i put my rod down and proceeded to net his fish. Well all I seen outta the corner of my eye was my brand new Abu Garcia Ambassador reel and rod go overboard after it got snagged. Man was I bummed out!! Well Corby turned the boat around and said "I betca I can snag it upo for you" and I was like ya right...well $#% me if he didn't catch it on the first pass by the very tip of the rod on the eyelet!!! Now right then and there he shoulda got rewarded "Cool Under Pressure" award for that! Again great fish Mitty!
