Also, how long did it take you to land it? Does the colder water 'calm' them and make them fight less?
Helped a guy land one this size years ago home in Germany in the summer, holy cow. Took nearly 40 minutes until it gave up and it jumped three times out the water, all on a 7' carbon spinning rod for pike that really had to work.
I'm always amazed at how you guys can land fish these size with these short ice rods through a hole in the ice, that's really great fishing skills.

Usually a normal auger is fine but on this trip I specifically drilled triple 8" holes knowing how girthy they can get at this lake. And this fish took about 15 mins to bring in hand lining with a tipup, felt like I was snagged it was so heavy and it spooled me out completely while my tipup blew all over the ice in 65km winds lol.. was the most intense fight I've experienced through the ice by far.
