Default Are old primers trustworthy?

I was gifted some CCI large rifle primers. I’m guessing they’re decently old because the price tag is $24.90 for a brick of 1000.

Does the age of an unspent primer matter/do primers have an expiry date? Would I be able to use these safely and confident that they will work?

Only way to find out is to try them. How/where they were stored may affect them more than age. I was gifted a brick of CCI-Br2’s and got the odd flier. Can’t say for sure it was a primer because other things can also cause the odd shot to go astray. Mine always go bang. I use them for loading foulers.

I’m running some CCI 200’s, they could be 30 years old(older cream coloured sleeves) they work just fine, but I knew the elderly gent I bought them from, and I know he stored them in a temp stable location, with controlled humidity.

They work just fine.

Default Aging Primers

I purchased a large volume of Federal primers and I was concerned about the age and reliability. I wrote a letter to Federal with the product numbers and I got a reply with the day they were manufactured. Investigate if CCI will do the same.
