That's a back-handed invite that I wouldn't pass up, send me directions and times and we will be there (provided the DW lets me out to play)

Mitty and I used to work together - we had an excursion at both lakes - his results were posted on an earlier thread ............ I'm teasing him ......

But the invite is real ...... we always have a blast out fishing ........ it's always better than a day at work.

I was thinking of Coal, Wizard or Battle ........... just for a change in scenery.

Was on coal lake today. There was about 2' of ice where I was. The fellow next to me was watching the drilling quite a bit. He had never seen a cordless drill drilling holes in the ice before. Said it made his old jiffy look tired. No bites or fish on the cam where I was just a good day to try the new gear I got for chistmas.

If you know where they hang in coal, you would do better than I.

Coal winer killed two years ago and has yet to recover to a level where it's worth fishing.

I have pictures somewhere from just after ice out of hundreds of pike and suckers floating near shore....it hasn't been the same place since IMHO.

Add to that the fact the lake is close to major populations and that many who fish there do not follow the regs to a "T" and that many undersized fish are kept and removed...

Makes the perfect storm for a once decent lake to collapse.

Go to Dried meat lake just 15 min south east of camrose. Always lots of small pike with some good ones thrown in here and there.

That's why he didn't bring you along ...... last year he looked like he was going to pass out or puke from the excitement after he pulled that 19 lber into the boat when I took him out.

He promptly peed his pants instead ........... I need guys with more composure on my boat - I couldn't get the smell of excited urine out of my boat for months!!!!!!!!

Just teasing you Mitty ........ you are still invited .......

Drove on the north end today. Caught 5-6 pike. Nothing big, all around 60-75.

There isn't much snow right off the boat launch, but i ventured down south a bit and the snow was substantially deeper. My old 96 chev had a tough time.
