i had a Mr.Heater last year, and it kept the "Ice Cube" Roasty. But you know, i went threough alot of those fuel cells, like alot. So this year, its a 20 pound propane heater for me. each of thos little 1 pound cells cost about $4.95 - $7.00 depending where you go, even a 6 pak at $12 at canadian tire, is more expensive than 20 pound bottle refill. plus the screw on tank heaters put out waaaaaaaaaay more heat!!!!! ill be bringing shorts and a tank top

I have the big Mr Buddy. I use a 20lb bottle with it. Works great, keeps me warm and lasts much, much, much longer then the small bottles.

Default Heater

I bought a big buddy heater out of the U.S. a couple years ago before they were available here. We run it in our ice shack off a 20 lb bottle. Keeps us in shirt sleeves even in minus 20-25 outside the shack. We never use the fan as we have not needed it. We can usually get half a dozen day trips at least out of a tank. It also has 3 settings so you can adjust for the warmer or colder days. We love it, works great.

I've got the Portable Buddy Mr Heater. Last year we dragged out a propane tank (deer hunting in a blind) to use, this year I went with the little green tanks. (got about 6 hours on low out of the little green bottle) It is a nice little unit, but the Big Buddy might be a better bet used in conjunction with a propane tank. Guess it depends if you want to be toasty or just turn it on and off to take the edge off.

Thumbs up Screw on

JR, They are 60 bones. I like your Idea of putting it in a bucket. I have a 10lbs'er too and I put it in a milk crate, gives it great handles and makes it very very stable.

I used the big buddy this year and it worked very well keeping the blind warm. Fan ran for many hours on rechargeable "d" cells and I have purchased and adapter from Cabelas to refill the little green tanks from my 20 lb BBQ tank. Have had it for several years and start each season with a set of new small green tanks. I have had only one of the small green tanks end up with damaged threads that leaked when attached after refilling it 5-6 times, tossed it and got a new one. Some of the tanks have been filled 50-75 times I'm sure. Definately keeps the cost and weight down for hauling it around.
