BARE Chest waders

Hey Guys/Gals,

Im new to the whole flyfishing dealio... I have the necessities, 5/6 weight rod and reel, floating line, tippet, leader, etc, etc. I've even caught myself a couple brookies. NOW im looking for a decent set of neoprene waders. At the moment im looking at BARE waders partly because its what a couple of buddies have and they speak highly of them, and partly because thats all I can afford

Specifically these two pairs..
Number one
Number two

What are peoples thoughts on these BARE waders?

Now, I dont know a whole lot about waders but from what i have heard neoprene is superior to most other materials. I will be using these waders mostly on my trout fishing expeditions in cold water (mountain/foothill lakes and rivers) and the odd pike hunting excursions around Edmonton.

Im looking for a pair of waders that are comfortable, warm, inexpensive (under 100 preferably) and DURABLE. I want waders that will LAST. Keep in mind these will get used maybe 15ish times per year.

Any tips or suggestions are MUCH appreciated!

I bought the exact pair you have listed as number one and I am really happy with them, I like the extra material around the knees....when you are walking through short brush you lead with your knees and it gives them that extra added protection.

I suggest to go into FH and try them on...I was surprised at the size that fit me best....ordering them from online you will not have that chance.

I have fished Bare wadders now for 2 season in BC, I am a fan of them but i would buy the breathable one over the neoprene ones. You can dress for the weather = long john and sweats in the winter and sweats in the summer..

I have Bare breathables that are 6yrs old now, well worth the money,never had a problem. Double as rain gear when camping, use them duck hunting. Good products.

Thanks for the input guys! I think im gonna go with the Neos because of the price but its good to know Bare is a reputable brand!! Breathables will run be an extra 150 bucks so...that makes the decision for me

I have a pair of your option 2 ones that are about 14 years old now....I am still wearing them and even wore them every day one summer while guideing. Other than the color fading a bit, thay have lasted well. Slowly getting away from the fly fishing but if I was still into it, I would be heading out to buy some lighter breathable ones. Though these have lasted well, they are hot as crap to do any sort of walking or hiking which often goes along with fly fishing. I agree with the other posters recommondation for going for breathables and dressing underneath for the water temps you are fishing in.
The other thing is, I am sure I paid well over $100 for the BARE waders I have and that was many years ago....I assume they are still over that price though you may know better than I. If you chose either one from the photo, I am sure they will last, though they may be a little warm and stinky on the hot days.

I have used bare waders for work several years and they are, for the most part, excellent waders. There was an issue with this years line of breathables and they sent the entire lot back due to some minor quality issues - so clearly they are a stand up company. I have had one issue with last years neoprenes as three pairs I purchased leaked right out of the box, but that problem was fixed with the new line as far as I understand. I would continue to be wearing bare waders if it werent for a recent sponsor with simms.

I more often than not just throw on a pair of shoes I don't mind getting wet, a pair of shorts and go wading. I go wading a lot and don't really have the desire to use waders while fishing, it's normally too bloody warm as I mainly fly fish from april-august. I have waders mind you and use them from time to time but now mainly use them for duck hunting.
