Well, like the title says that was my Saturday morning. Dispite installing new bearings, seals and bearing buddies one of the wheel bearings siezed on the way to Keho. Turned off the hiway @ 7:45am and was within 2 miles of the lake when it happened. Bearing shatered and blew the tire and the hub off passing us into the long grass of the ditch. Quick google search for towing company and repair centers in Lethbridge. Well, long weekend, you know what's next. Either they weren't open or had no one working.
TnT Towing from Lethbridge used a slide deck truck to load my boat and trailer and the driver (Brent) suggested his brother in law (Ed) worked for a welding shop that did trailer repairs and was working. Nothing to loose at this point as towing to Calgary would of been very expensive. Well, this is where this incident got better. Thank you Brent for suggesting Parklane Welding & Mfg Ltd. Ed started working on my trailer staight away @ 10:50am and I was on the road by 12:30 and in the water by 1:00.
Brent @ TnT charged me for 1.5 hrs of time rather than by kilometers which was $150. Ed @ Parklane Welding charged me $245 for his time, supplying the new hub, bearings and seals and some machining of the hub face to fit my rim.
Pretty reasonable I think, thank you guys. My wife and I really appreciated your help and the fair treatment of someone in a bind.
It's not often we get to do this these days but I want to take this opportunity to say this:
To the board members from the Lethbridge area, if you know these guys tell them Garry and Peggy cannot thank them enought for being there for us and treating us right.
