Post The best Goldeye lure

2 years ago I had bought a lure called "jakes lure". This is the ultimate lure for catching Goldeye, even when fishing is slow. If you can find this lure buy a box of them. It is a small piece of stainless steel (L 1.5" x W 0.5") folded over with red spots. It is as simple as it sounds , but very effective. Not sure if bass pro has them, because I bought it from cabelas in Rapid city, SD. This lure tends to produce bigger Goldeye, which is a plus because no sense in catching a hundred little ones. Also, if you have any Goldeye favorites let me know for comparison.

Almost sounds like a Super Duper, got any pictures? I'd love to try catching a few Goldeye.

Just googled it and found a picture. Similar to a Super Duper but not exactly.

Favorite Goldeye lure - dry fly sitting on top of the water
2nd favorite - a nymph or leach under a strike indicator

There's also a grasshopper or worm on a hook dangled under a bobber; that usually works wonders too. I've never tried much else for slaying goldeye.

I had a couple of those, where I got'em no one knows.

Never thought much of them but I like fishing Goldeye so I may have to hunt some up.

Used those once to catch steelhead out of a small river flowing into lake michigan. I dont know why they worked so well but that was absolutly the only lure that those fish would hit.

I catch the vast majority of my goldeye on worms, but small spoons, spinners or jigs work well also. When they're really on they will hit bigger lures, I caugth a near-Canadian-record one on a spinnerbait while fishing for pike when I was in high schoo.

Dry flies and hoppers are amazing for getting into goldeye around lethbridge. I have also hammered them on san juan worms and a few other terrestrials.

The ultimate lure for goldeye is the lucky strikes half wave. Get the 2 inch nickle.
