Default Free mauser action

Hey I have a mauser98 action available for free ( just pay postage) it's a Parker hale in 30-06 that was poorly stored. Barrel is junk, stock is pretty much junk. But action and bottom metal are decent.( Some surface rust but nothing that can't be cleaned up and refinished) original 2 stage trigger and safety are in good shape.
My plan was to build off the action but things have changed. I received the action/ rifle for free so I'll pass it along to someone else for just the cost of shipping.

Barrel is still on the action.
If interested I can email or text pics.

Very nice offer on your part. If I was right handed I would take you up on it. Funny thing, I tried for a few weeks this summer to give away a Mountain Bike on here to anyone that wanted to pick it up. I got is free so thought I would pass along the good deed. No enquiries and no takers. I ended up advertising it on Kijiji, sold it in one day for $350 bucks. Donated the money to the Salvation Army, at least there I know it will go to a good cause. Merry Christmas.

I'll take it if it is still available, I have a plan for a target rifle that I could use for a youngster!

THANKS! This action will be the basis for a "loaner" 1,000 meter target rifle at our range for beginners to use .
Stay tuned for updates over the next few months!

You know, you hear about all that has got worse on AO the last few years but there are still a lot of truly great guys on here. I love these kinds of threads.

Cat

If you post up a parts list, calibre etc I am sure some of us will be able to contribute bits here and there.

I believe a Cat was going to do a 308 win for this build.

As obsessed1 stated I am building a 308 long range rifle for shooting at 1,000 meters.
This will be for new shooters as a loaner, seeing as how it will not be used in sanctioned Fclass matches I plan to put a brake on it as well.

I would certainly be up for that. Would make for a rather heavy hunting rifle with this barrel but that’s not the worst thing.

Cat, I might be able to offer a set of bases and rings.

I believe I have a set of new rings and bases I bought for a restoration but never used.
I'd be glad to donate them to a new hunter project.

I'll look them up and post pictures if you're interested.

Not to derail the post, but this happened to a friend. Was cleaning up the garage and put some good stuff up for free and no one was interested. Changed the add to $300 or so and everyone wanted his stuff. Couldn't give it away but had no problem selling.

Great to see the action going to good use!

That's a great offer Keg, but this particular action already has bases and a scope on it.
They will have too be changed out however for a 20 MOA rail unless of course we can use Burris Z rings , otherwise the scope will run out of turret for 1,000 meters.

Yeah mine wouldn't do for that application for sure.

I looked mine up, there are actually four and they are Talley style,
like this;

but I can't find a name on them and I'm not sure what action they were made for.

Keep them in mind for future projects. If you can use them you can have them, I'll never use them.
