Default Lesser slave lake ice update

Well joussard is frozen all the way across as of a few days ago and -20 every night for 4 nights and -16 during the day we got some good ice, walked out about 250yds and ice remained about 6" and about 8" closer to shore, only had a chisel so couldn't check water depth. But we are getting there!!😄

New to the area, but looks like it's coming slowly.

If there's no reports by Saturday I'll head out and update... Just don't trust myself alone on thin ice after dark haha.

Also if anyone needs a fishing buddy in the area hit me up, just moved from Calgary and flying solo atm.

Well I am certainly surprised at the joussard report being froze over. I live on the shoreline in widewater area and the lake has only froze to 200 yrds off shore a few weeks ago. But with warm temps and high winds, I think I am back to 100 yards of ice in front of the house and then water as far as I can see....

If I can remember how to post a damn pic again, I'll post one tonight

I was away for most of the week...it did look like it iced over on the east end when I left to work and then my neighbor sent me a pic on the 12th and again lots of opened water. Back home now and it looks like the east end is iced over again. Pretty cold the last 2 days which will help but thinking its not very thick.

Nobody I know has ventured to the narrows yet. I'm guessing with the amount of current going through there it would be one of the last places to freeze over...

I can't stress enough to use extreme caution around the narrow's. I've personally been on there and almost needed an extension on my auger and doing a 2-300 yrd move and only had about 14 inches of ice.

Crazy current's and very un-predictable ice.!!...There is a good reason why the local's aren't out there yet

3 shacks at the narrows? You got to be kidding.

Yikes. Could be awhile yet. Ain't worth dying for a chance at a couple walleye. Whoever is curious about ice conditions you guys should listen to Shmag. He just posted pics and info on open water very recently.

I talked with a few local's on Friday, they said some guys moved their shacks onto the lake about 1-200 yrds off shore and blocked them up there...Thinking they wanted to get past the shoreline where it really drifts in. Maybe those are the ones horse was talking about...not sure.

If you found 8 inches, I can almost guarantee you travelled over lots of 4 inch ice to get there...yeah, not for this guy...

Good for them. I wouldn't even be running my quad out to the narrows yet.

I went out by joussard and had 6-10" in the holes I drilled. Fishing was slow, couple eyes a pike and a burb.

Talked to a guy tonight and was told to use caution at the narrows. A soft spot about half way out. Some springs in there creating thin ice as is the case every year.
