Default Ruger American Predator rifle (.243 win)

I'm looking for information on this rifle, does anybody has comments positive or negative on the rifle. I am really interested in the .243 Win, but any comments on a short action are welcome.
Thank you

If you like it, buy it. It is a good low priced rifle. You won't be wasting your money. I'm looking at buying a Ruger American Ranch in 300AAC Blackout. Just because.

IMHO I was sold on an American until i held one. The mag feels very cheap as does the stock. Again my opinion. Ended up with a Vanguard2 and love it in a 308. It's all up to you and how it feels in your hands though. Good luck and hope you find what you want!

The ag does feel cheap. The stock felt better to my wife than some rifles twice the price. That one is more of a personal preference. I actually quite like the rifle as well. My wife has a 30-06 and got me a 22-250 for Christmas.

One of my co-workers has one in 243 and quite likes it. He normally shoots a 300 win mag, I forget which brand though. But he shoots his American more than his 300.

Default I like mine

I have one in stainless and I like mine. Many say it feels cheap, looks cheap etc but it is a light rifle and you can't complain about the bang for the buck. The technology Ruger put into the rifle is great and mine is a shooter. So if you are looking for something that is pretty and "feels" expensive then the American isn't for you but if you are looking for something economical that hits where you aim...then I would consider the American. I like my stainless (all-weather) but there are only a few in Alberta from what I have found so you have to know where to look.

I have a much more expensive rifle that feels better but this one is reliable and kills things just as dead.

If you don't like the stock, Boyd's makes stocks. I've thought about ordering one for the wife and one for me. Something to dress it up a bit and make it feel better, although I don't mind the feeling of it now. I'm wondering how much flew is really is the factory stock.....

Where are you finding the Predator? I've been looking and haven't seen one yet. Haven't shot one but so far it seems they are doing very well, looks like one of the better values for your buck right now.

I just bought the 243 win. Ruger american predator with blued barrel at the Canadian tire off Macleod just north of 22x in Calgary. They have some 22-250 and 204 rugers left in stock. I got their last 243 this morning. I saw it and couldn't leave without it.

Don't count on wholesale. They told me spring before they see anything new. Calgary shooting centre didn't have any predators. Cabela's website had them listed last I looked. Maybe you can order it from Edmonton.

What do they retail at there ? How is the bolt on it. Tight and smooth?

Good to know, thanks. I thought about a .243 but have that base covered. If I run into a 7-08 or a 6.5 though I'll have to take it I think.
