Where to go for bass?

Just wondering were the best place in bc would be to go for bass?

lake skaha in penticton has some really nice smallmouth fishin especially in the channel as it enters the lake and there are a bunch of other lakes with bass in re area

Duck Lake outside of Creston is supposed to be really good too.

Lots of lakes in the east Kootenays have bass. If you're looking to take the kids out and want a lot of action with easy access - try Jim Smith Lake Prov Park, 5 minutes outside of Cranbrook.

Windermere Lake (Invermere) has bass in it too. In fact, here's a quick list I just found for the Kootenays region:

Vaseux and Osoyoos in the Okanagon are supposed to be really good as well.

Vaseux is really good if you can get to the other side from the hyway...
and there is no motors allowed even no electrics it is bird sancuary

but good fishing back in the bowls

And if you are going all the way to the coast check out Prospect lake, or Elk, or Beaver near Victoria, St. Mary's on Saltspring.
Prospect and St. Mary's were my favourites for top-water plug action years ago.

THe list above mentions Bayne's Lake in Jaffray BC which is my suggestion too. It is an awesome little lake with tons of smallmouth and there are rainbow trout too in the deeper sections. I found hundreds of smallmouth in the shallows on the North side of the lake and fished for them from a canoe.

Windermere Lake,
any dock has fish under it so swing your lure under it to ge the bits.work the shallows theryre not out deep.
use topwaters at night to realy locate big ad lotsof bass. find a beach nd fish it at night with poppers or jitterugs, buzzbits work but they miss to many fish

Never fished for them! They're on my bucket list for this summer. Going to be around Trail and Kamloops for work a fair bit this summer, so should get a chance then

I've had some good luck on Duck lake. spring time is best, with a pontoon boat.

back in the day there was a monster largemouth that came out of there as well. there are pictures in the elko "hilltop" store.. theres a mount of one from there too.

The largemouth mount in the Sirdar Hotel Bar is not too bad. It came out of Duck Lake.

One of the closest places from Calgary is the Tie Lake (Jaffray):
Largemouth, pumpkinseed and yellow perch.

Tie has some big bass in it, and lots of big power boats and skiers, Suzanne has some good fish in it. Duck has some big boys in it, no motors, opens in mid June. I hear Columbia lk has some big bass, haven't fished that yet. Baynes has some not bad sized perch if you can get under the bass, 10" bass is huge there now, but there are huge schools of them in there, Great place to introduce a kid to fishing.

there has actually been alot of ppl who have said they believe there is potential for duck lake to hold some record bass.. i grew up in that area as well as the jaffray area and tie lake is my go to bass lake.. i have done countless laps around that lake in a canoe and have had very good luck.

there is a pic of one of the first decent bass of the season.. (i dont ice fish so my season starts when the ice is off lol) and if i remember correctly i believe that may have even been the one that hammer my lure before it even hit the water, it actually startled me.. there are alot bigger ones in there too, i wish i had a pic of the one my younger brother had, it was a hawg!

I used to fish Baynes years ago and used to catch loads of large mouth up to about 18 inches. For the last many years there seems to be only really small bass in there. I never did catch a smallmouth there though, are you guys sure there are smallies in there? I also remember seeing a pic of a big ol large mouth at the old Baynes Lake store, the thing was huge, the lady at the store told me it was caught in Baynes Lake.

if your after smallies , dont make the trip to tie lake because there arent any , only largemouth.

You wont see any smallies until you hit the okanagan region.

Windermere is a super clear lake and I find that finesse presentations outperform powerfishing methods any day. Poppers are great early in spring when the fish are shallow during or post-spawn. Look for "walleye water" near subermerged rocks and structure in the summer, and don't be afraid to fish the 20+ ft deep holes in the lake, thats where you're going to find a lunker in summer.
