Default Ice Fishing Meadow Lakes - Family Day Weekend

Afternoon!

I am planning a ice fishing trip to Saskatchewan and I'm thinking on trying the Meadow lakes area as I live in Edmonton so I can work with a 4 to 4.5 hour drive. I do not have snow machines or quads so I would to limited to truck access and man power. I am going with my sons (21 and 18) so the young bucks can pull our sled a ways.

We are looking to target Walleye and Perch but Perch is what we really are after. I have had some luck in Alberta on Perch but this year I have been not very lucky. I have done some research online and right now Lac Des Iles looks good?

I have never fished Saskatchewan and some lake suggestions would be awesome.

Thanks in advance and everyone on here continue to stay safe!
Tony

Been a long time since I fished Lac Des Isles, but I’m from Meadow Lake area (born and raised). When we wanted perch we went to Boyer lake, NE of Meadow Lake. It was a bit of a goat trail to get in there with a truck, depending on snow amounts and traffic, but good perch in there. May want to call “The General” store in Meadow and see if they know what access is like and if the fishing has been good there.

SS

ETA: I don’t recall ever catching a walleye there. Most folks went to Flotten for walleye.

I was fishing the area this past weekend. We were getting around with trucks without issue.

I have family alway go to Big river and they do good on perch but i would imagine lac des isle would be good.

Have you done the lakes around la biche, good lake up there. Good ice and low snow for good access

if I was to pick a place i'd stay at waterhen and fish keeley and waterhen. Lac des isles is a tough lake to fish walleye especially on the hard water. If your just wanting to tip up fish head into ranger bay and you will do okay with Pike.
