Transporting boat across Canada

Anybody have an idea of how much it would cost to ship a 16' boat/trailer from southern Ontario to Calgary? Boat and trailer don't weigh much, probably 700 lbs. If you have a freight company to recommend I'd appreciate that info.

Or if anybody is traveling from southern Ontario out here and wants to make some cash, message me. Thanks!

Currently you can expect to pay $150-$180 a foot. Depends on the week and how desperate the trucks are to get out of Ontario.

It's more hassle, but if it would fit on a train, that's probably the way to go. Not sure if you've ever shipped a car across the county, but it's way cheaper by train vs truck.

Shipped my 18ft Crestliner from Thunder Bay to Regina for just under $600 on Uship. My sled from Thunder Bay to Edmonton was $400 on Uship

Should also mention i shipped my quad from tbay to edmonton with freightways for roughly $400. Downside being they do not cover any damage if it occurs.

Reports of a guy bringing a boat in from Lake Erie to Grand Prairie. Missing the boat inspection. Supposedly parked the boat there. In the spring took it to the west coast for a fishing trip. Damaged the boat and brought it back to Alberta. Hit the check stop in Hinton and was inspected. Found to have live, viable zebra mussels on the boat.

Scary!!!!!!!!!!

That would be over 200 million dollars with let's say Toronto being about 1,116,800 feet from Calgary.

Pretty sure it was per foot of the item being shipped. Not the distance travelled in feet.

Interesting, because salt water tends to kill zebra mussels as well as freezing temperatures like outdoor winter storage. Also, depending on where you read 5-30 days out of water like say transporting a boat across Canada or heated indoor storage kills them.
I brought a boat from Lake Erie, missed every inspection because no check stops exist in March (something to do with freezing) and didn’t put it in a lake here in Alberta until June. I was more than positive they didn’t survive.

Thanks for the help guys...its for a brand new boat with no motor on it (have motor for it here) unfortunately nobody carries stock in western Canada. I have made an account with uship and currently have a few quotes.

Can they ship the boat to some dealer near you when an order is going there and pay 300 bucks for a off dealer transfer they do it for corvettes all the time for a delivery

If you decide to use those clowns check the driver and all his documents out very, VERY carefully.

Have a friend that had a quad shipped a short distance and it was trashed when it got to him (wasn't even strapped down & other people's junk had fallen all over it) and Uship wouldn't help, said it was a contracted courier problem and had nothing to do with them, turned out he didn't even have valid insurance on his tow rig and trailer let alone liability insurance. Had to fight him in small claims court and barely broke even after his expenses.

I would STRONGLY suggest NOT using Uship, they are a renegade outfit to the core. Google the horror stories for yourself.
