Elk are more rounded than moose, which is somewhat elongated in comparison. I'm certain if you google Elk/Moose tracks it will show you what I mean.

Elk tracks are like super huge whitetail, heart like, pointy front tips,
moose is like cow on steroids, round up tips.
Now there are different sizes of calves, cows, bulls in both species.
Another think to consider is stride length with moose being longest.

Never thought about stride length.
Honestly, tracking is so much more interesting to me than actually shooting something. Talked to local CO about SAR courses as someone recommended in another thread and think I may actually get into it. I'm a good match for the job (once i have a bit more education in the matter).

youve got that backwards. a moose is like a huge deer and elk are like a smaller cow. elk tracks are rounder than moose and deer tracks..

I wish I would have taken a course like that. Everything I learned came from books (like Tom Brown's Book "Guild To Tracking" or what ever it is called now), or I learned it for myself since I had at least 20 days of hunting each season for at least 7 years straight.
I do not track as much now but I get the feeling or sense that a animal is present.
I should look into the tracking course even at my age.

Elk track is between the size of moose and a deer track.
When in mud the bull elk track is not spread out as much as a bull moose but does spread out and is much larger than a cow elk track.
A cow elk track hold tighter togeather in mud like a deer.

Elk are definitely ''rounder'' than moose.

I just helped my younger cousin with his aheia course a month ago. In the green hunter education book it has tracks of the animals in there. Elk are more round still pointy but moose are more pointy.

Bull elk and moose tracks can be quite similar where cows and calves are much different and much more rounded.
Andrzej what makes you so confident that this is a a elk track and not a moose?
A bull elk track still appears less pointy than that with a more rounded tip.

An elk track is like taking a horse hoof and splitting in the middle.
It leaves a pointed track when it's splayed in the mud.
But on firmer ground closes together making a rounder appearance than a moose.
Small cow and calf tracks can look like pony tracks.
Both bull Moose and elk do have some sort of a point but I find in the same width track the moose will be more elongated like a sharp tear drop.
Hope this helps.

Actually the dew claws don't show up that often unless they step in really deep mud.
I am out hunting today Ill take some pics of moose tracks for you.

Elk tracks are rounded and heart shaped, moose are long and pointy. If your tracking an elk with long pointy feet, make sure the shovels are legal size before you shoot it!

Dew claws (Spurs) are present in both moose and elk, being present in a track depends on weight of the animal and ground conditions.
Edit lefty hit it, usually deep snow or mud

I did see other tracks on harder ground. Not long enough for Moose. It was Elk.
I have an acreage with Elk and Moose visiting often so I see their tracks regularly.

Here's some elk tracks
Here are some elk tracks from this morning. The tips of elk tracks curl over more quickly at the tip than a moose whether the print is splayed or not.
