Its been a great hard water season for us this year in central AB. With the perch size's being down from are experience over the years. But with searching the lakes we managed to find some good size perch this year but they have been few and far between. Catching the bigger perch on spoons and 2in twister tails. We have been finding then more on open flats with a light mix of weeds or on the edge of heavy weed patches. The depths have been from 12f of water all the way to 18.
The pike action has been great this year. From first light till sun down can not complain. Targeting under water islands and drop offs we have been extremely successful. The bottoms we have been fishing have been sandy moslty. Going deeper then most years we have been landing alot of nice pike in the 18 f to 20f water. Really cleaning up with a jig head, Mr.twister combo tipped with a minnow.
Never targeted White fish this year but caught a few while jigging for pike and perch.
Cant wait for open water season! The boats been getting new upgrades almost every two weeks, Happy fishing every one!
