Spring Laker Tips?

I was out to Minnewanka this weekend and the ice is sure getting dark. It will soon be time to get back out on the water. Anyway, I've never fished for them in the spring and was wondering if anyone had any tips for a rookie!:\

No Lead in the parks.

polar bear jigs vertical jiged if fish are deeper than 30' and you dont have a rigger.

Spoons trolled at different speeds, make sure you do sharp wide s turns with the boat so it gives the spoon a chance to drop. You will pick up 90% of the fish when the lure is dropping.

Floating split body rapalas with a gibbs slip weight about six feet in front.

Try all the techniques you can throw out there and you will eventually get the winner.

Thanks FiveO, we do have 'riggers and sonar. Fished Minnewanka for the first time last summer. Made three trips, had 7 different fish on, but never landed any. Every time the hooks pulled out. The average amount of time before the hooks pulled out was over 15 minutes. Is there some trick to setting?

No I haven't Gramps. Not really interested after our Minnewanka experiences. There are truely some huge fish in there if you can get at them.

Either way I'm addicted now and asking for help.

Oh Gramps, by the way, have you tried the Upper or Lower Kananaskis lakes? What about Barrier? Any advice would be great. Thanks.
