Default Sturgeon Trip.

Wife just informed me, for my birthday, she's paying for me and my 2 best friends, to go out and slay some Fraser River Dino's!!!!
I'm in Lethbridge, and friends will be coming in from Winnipeg.
Now my quest begins.....
Anyone have suggestions or experience With any persons or group that handles guided tours?
Also not looking to break the bank either.
Looking for a full day, approx 10 hours or so.
I've looked online and found prices vary from 500-1500$
There are conflicting posts too, about time of year to head out.
I'm leaning towards June-Sept time frame.
I'd like for those that have had GOOD personal experience to possibly assist me on this.
Thanks a lot in advance for the info.

Went with cascade last year after a friend recommended them and had a good time, guide had a good boat and nice gear.

As for timing I think sept is where it's at

We went August long last year and salmon opened when we were there so it was stupid busy on the river.

Went two years ago with another service and it left a real bad impression on me.

If your traveling that far tho I would go for at least two days. They are and can be really picky, weather will also effect where you can fish. We lost almost the whole day last year to really bad winds couldn't fish anywhere we wanted to

I've used Vic Carro with STS Guiding Service several times. Top notch service with experienced guides who fish the river year round. If you want the Giants, September to November is the best times.

I have used two different guides and would recommend both.
The first was (Vic was our guide) at STS in March back about 15 years. Had a great outing and caught plenty of fish. Not the best time of year to go . . .
The second was with Fraser River Lodge (Jay was our guide) right around the beginning of July 2014. Took my father and sister and had a blast. Went on the canyon trip and the scenery is fantastic. The smile on my dad's face was worth EVERY penny. The largest landed was a 6 footer / 175lbs and that was plenty to handle! Lost one the felt a lot larger.
Only selected a different outfit the second time due to the location we were staying at for a wedding.

Default Fraser river sturgeon

Went in November two years ago. It was nothing short of amazing. Our guide said that was the time to go (like he would say anything different). We pretty much had one on our lines at all times and went in early because our arms were sore. Biggest was 7'2", around 200lbs. Most were around 100lbs. Should also note that we were right in the city where we were fishing. I think it was about $500 for the day.

Fraser River Lodge.

I've been there twice and it's worth every penny as 'rmauthe' said. I've always done their 4 day package and with 3 days salmon and 1 day sturgeon (but you can customize however you want). We have always caught well there and you get treated like a king.

I fished with three friends this past September just out of Mission. We went with STS and our guides name was Ryan. I would highly recommend him. We ended up with a pile of Sturgeon with the two biggest towed to shore and measured at 8 feet.

Awesome experience and I would highly recommend it.

Default Sturgeon fishing guide

Check with Fred's Tackle in Chilliwack. They have been in business for a longtime and have a good reputation.

If you go with Cascade just don't book Marc. He's pretty cranky and ain't the guide he once was. The other guides are pretty good with CJ being his best

Fraser River Lodge ripped me off last summer. I wouldn't suggest spending a penny with that loser.

I use Pete at River Fly Sport Fishing now. Hands down the best Guide I've ever used out there

Why not book one of the longest standing sturgeon guides in the Fraser Valley - Chad McAdie with Fishing The Fraser

I have fished with Chad and other guides for Sturgeon in the Fraser Valley, and Chad is hands down the best. Great service, great boat, great gear, and an outstanding fisherman. You will not be disappointed, he has spent most of his life guiding that river and its tributaries, and that experience makes a difference.

More importantly, enjoy yourself out there! It's an incredible trip, you will have a blast.

Does anyone have any experience with Olivers Sportfishing adventures? Looking at booking a trip in August, not sure on which guide yet.

Thanks everyone for all the tips.
Have trip booked for Sept long.
Pretty pumped about going.... Sucks it's such a wait.
Between the posts here and trying to search threads here,
I'm booked with Lang's Fishing.
Here's hoping the long weekend will be productive.
CHEERS.

Good choice. He's the best there is. If you happen to be on Instagram you can look him up as fishingguidebc. He actually just posted a picture of the 10'6" sturgeon he got last year. 1 of 6 he landed over 10 feet. Have fun I'll be there sept long as well

That's arguable whether he is "the best" but its all personal opinion I guess. I can tell you that 10'6 isn't an actual 10'6 he usually measures to the tip of the tail to try and make it sound better. but to each their own.

Now Kevin From sturgeon slayers now there is a guy who could possibly be considered the best. Not one of those other guys puts in as much time and effort not only into the fishing and guiding, but the protection and management of the fishery.

You will have a blast, slaying the Dino's on the Fraser is fantastic. Couple years back we managed a 11' 4" to tip of tale. All the best on your trip.

All his fish are measured from the fork of the tail. Here are a couple from last year. The guy is legit and all the guides on the river know him. When a grown man cant reach half way around the fish you know its a monster.

Thanks all again for al the tips and advice.
Made "MY" choice.
If I catch one I do. If I don't, then I don't.
It's a weekend out with my buddies I haven't seen in a while.
And THATS THAT.
