Default Ice fishing...tent/shack vs not

Curious if folks have noticed differences in catch rates when ice fishing outside vs inside? Wondering if light makes a big difference (beyond being able to sight fish easier inside a dark structure? Time of day matter?

If you know you're in a productive area then set up the tent and concentrate on catching. Until then, stay mobile and keep drilling. When in a tent you can sight fish down the hole or use a camera or flasher. All of which make catching easier once you've located target species.being able to watch a fish eat your bait and simultaneously being able to set the hook is a big advantage. Good luck!

Default Inside Outside

Really shouldn't be any different as to how this sets up, just location and presentation. One day maybe great in the shack and the next out side the shack, you just never know. Sight fishing in the shack with no wind is kinda cool tho.

Depends on what your fishing for. I find hole hopping for Perch and Walleye is the best. Usually when you drop your hook down a new hole you will have a hit when your hook first falls to the bottom more often than none, then nothing for a while.
I was at Utikama this past week and we would get a hit right away more often when dropping into a new hole. Thats why I drill 6 or more holes about 20 feet apart and spend maybe 5 mins at each hole. I haven't set up my tent once this year, but I haven't been out for whites.

I bought a text more for the kids then anything and I have to say it's the best thing I ever did! Get the heater going and they go in and out to stay warm witch means I can fish more! It's great, if you have kids get one it will make your life easier!
