Cone Style

Can't remember where I read about this a long while back but decided to make these 5 Traffic cone style for marten but never tried . [IMG][/IMG]

I do not like plastic for marten boxes. It includes the expensive Halford boxes. The walls are to soft and unable to lock trap from slipping out on step leaning poles or vertical trap sets. The plywood boxes work best, and I like open view of wire mesh, my theory is marten or fisher do not think trap set is to confining and if not hungry will take a pass on bait. Also bait on screen gives marten a free sample of beaver meat.
The only time I like plastic is when a black or grizzly bear decides to bang the box to kindling.
