Some real nice knives you folks got but I always say the best knife for the job is the one in your buddies hand while you hold a leg.

Just received my semi-skinner from Clint
Fantastic workmanship, and great feel to it.
2month turn around,
Got it with Black micarta, and green liners, and the steel is Magnacut.
Hopefully get to test it out this weekend.
Great guy to deal with.
Would highly recommend.

Yes it is, hollow ground, magna cut, with finger serrations on the top of blade for grip.
I wanted it a simple looking knife that will work hard. No fancy bone or wood, just a great overall hunting knife, to skin and gut.

Well you got it! As mine, fills your hand with a good grip! I wasn't sure how the Crotts knife handle would handle the blood and wet conditions being such a smooth finish to the touch? But it did very well in this aspect! Great knife!

Years ago one of my brothers, on vacation, toured the Victorinox Swiss Army knife factory. He bought me a nice folding hunting knife while there and gave it to me. It’s one of my favourite hunting knives. IMO, you don’t need a big blade to do the job. Just sharp and know what to do with it.

What are you building?
Not sure if you used mosaic pins before. If so, all good.
If not, be careful when you sand them. A power sander may heat them up, and will "distort" the epoxy inside. Guess what I am saying is take your time with this process, and use higher grits.
Also, don't cut them too close to the scales. Give yourself lots of light sanding room.
Good luck with your project and please send pics when you are done...

But I won’t be doing the work it will go off to a knife maker. I have a couple more different pins and micarta on the way so will have a look at a couple of combinations.

I have had one of these for a couple years...skinned out a deer or two and more than a few coyotes... not exactly a semi skinner but has some similarities
Its grip is just a bit slender for my hands these days
A.G Russel put out a lock back semi skinner a while ago but I have never seen one for sale here

CRKT large pilar lll in d2 is another design that looks like it might work..blade stock might be a bit thick for a real good slicer and the tip might be a bit to blunt...
