My fiancé shot her first two elk, both were male calves. Best meat ever.

One of the elk hanging from my winch

One calf

Second calf

Coworker and his first deer. We figure the skull is fractured and the antler spun around and then healed upside down.

Brother in law and his mule doe

My mule doe

Brother in laws Whitetail buck

My brothers first deer ever

Congrats....

My sister and I shot these just before dark on Friday.

It is her first white tail deer.

So Sunday afternoon, just into rifle season, I went out to check my cameras to see if the bears were still around. I quaded in and grabbed the cards. The wind was subsiding so I parked the quad and walked to a good vantage point where the wind was to my favor, just to see what may come to the field to feed. First off, a whitetail doe. It saw me, but I ducked down and it came out of the bush to feed. It kept glancing to the trees, then more whitetail came out. Next thing there were 5. I was excited to stay and watch for the Alpha buck to come out. It started getting later and I basically got up to leave while there was still light. Then I saw to my left...ELK. I saw the lead was a bull. I sat up, leveled on a fence post and nailed it with my 7mm rem mag. Thwack. It stood like a drunken elk, on unsteady legs. I hit it again Thwack. No change. So again....it was talking slow steps to the fenceline/bush a meager 20 years away, where I did not have permission and it was thick as hell. Thwack, again. It went down. Yeah. I laid down...trying to calm my nerves, then grabbed my binos....he was up???? wth? I steadied again, thwack. He went down...right on the fence line. I left him and found the landowner, who was kind enough to load the beast in my truck. When I skinned him out, there was a softball size hole and a couple others just behind teh front leg. I truly hit him His lungs were mash, totally surprised that he still stood. anyhow, it was a night I wont forget as I only went out to check the cams but I did go out prepared for any surprises
Beauty!

My son got a nice wt deer earlier on
I walked in on a cow elk in the bush and was happy to accomplish that about a mile from my truck, that was a 4 hr walk , highlite of my season till today last day
I got this feller about 10:30 I was pretty down by not seeing many deer, yesterday , I saw no deer at all, just about was not going out today
Then a my friend was going so I had to give it another try
All changed when I saw this feller ,
Happy now , maybe my biggest deer so far

He was running mach chicken at 600 yards so I did a Hail Mary…. Lol actually it wasn’t me. His face had two large wounds on it. This guy had issues. We were meant for each other lol…..

Looks like we both shot the wrong buck. Mine had a big wound on the side of his face with a bunch of puss in the neck meat around. There was clearly a buck
In the area dishing out ash kickings. Looks like your area has one doing the same. Lol. Congrats.

Yeah I’m sure he had some stories to tell. Congrats on yours as well minus the puss.

So after 10 years, my wife finally got a Bull Moose draw for WMU 324, which is where we live. I always have lots of moose on my land, and this year was no exception.

This bull moose knocked down one of my trail cams 3 times this year. At one time he actually yanked the post out of the ground. Luckily, trail cam survived. She actually named him "Marcus". He was a destructive frequent visitor and I have lots of pics of him.

So I have a simple ground blind (an old cedar sauna given to me years ago). At the end of the opening (140 yards), I have 3 game trails meeting by one of my trail cam. Trails come from a creek about 80 yards West. I brush cut/maintain them every year, and they are always very well used by moose and deer.

At day six in the blind (about a week ago), at 0935hrs, guess who shows up...Marcus. She waited for a broadside shot, which she got. First shot froze him, and I told her to shoot again...Marcus was down. She was using her trusty little Husqvarna .308 WIN, shooting 180 grains soft points (Federal Blue Box).

A great year, and lots of meat for family and friends. Proud of her!...
