I’m not sure if it is hunting pressure or mild temperatures but I am not seeing travelling bucks in the middle of the day like I used to.

First light till noon and last 2 hrs of light are busiest. But still the odd mid day buck. All day sits yielding 1-7 bucks seen from first to last light
We are seeing less movement mid day too and hunting pressure is not the issue. We are actually seeing less pressure than previous years
Weather is my guess
Previous years between 10-2 was deadly not this year

They can't take of their heavy coats in this warm weather, they're moving most in the cooler hours at night right now.

My thoughts as well
It’s definitely way warmer than I was expecting for a November hunt

So the start for my brother was rough. He is not comfortable with hang on stands so he was stuck to ladder stands. Out of the ladder stands a cougar moved into one, another had a dead deer someone must of made a bad hit on near it, and another the action just slowed right off. So he was down to one stand
Well my brother has been crying like a little girl for the last few days because he has only been seeing baby bucks. We have been teasing him nonstop because of all of his negative talk and excuses. I have heard it all and have just been giggling making fun of him.
Since the issues with the ladder stands were an issue I was recommending some spots I scouted to hunt off the ground. He didn’t want to listen and kept cry
Well today he broke down and listened. I set him up in a spot that he could hunt off the ground. Today he learned don’t argue with the man who has done the scouting lol
Nice 11pt for him today

Beauty, nothing wrong with hunting from the ground! Is he done crying now? Does he want a tissue?

My family is completely uncivilized and if you show weakness you will regret it. There has been no mercy from my cousin and I
He is really happy it’s his personal best

Lol.
I am sick as hell myself. It was crippling in from Monday and yesterday what I thought was the worst. Today is a complete down day, I feel like I have been sent to space without a suit. Don’t remember the last time it hit me this hard. Hopefully things will clear up before the weekend or my moose season is over. And it doesn’t look promising. Crying here (almost literally because my eyes didn’t stop watering since I woke up in the morning, lol).
Feel better there. How many are still to go? Your wife is still at it, unless I missed it?

Today at 3:15 I was driving up Dahl Dr, Whitecourt. It was +10C, all kinds of traffic and 50 yards off the road a whitetail buck was tending a scrape.
Right along the powerline beside the CN line.
Had his antlers in the trees, so couldn't see his rack.

Definitely feel like crap
My wife is the last one with a tag. She has had more opportunities than anyone on big bucks this year but can’t seal the deal. Today might be her last day do to lack of of help to pack one out
The Rookie I was trying to help kept having her father and boy friend drag her road hunting so she has not committed to an agreed days. So she is on the road to eating her tag too. I offered to teach her but I don’t tie deer to trees. It’s too bad but I am not going to force someone to learn
I don’t mind teaching a motivated rookie that truly wants to put in the effort here and there but I am not going to chase someone around to do so

TAG soup for me,
But my Niece, sealed the deal..first time hunting, first buck.
Told her she may aswell just stay home for a few years as this one kinda spoiled it for the next coming seasons.
Taken near Ft Qu'Appelle, Sask.

Congrats to her on a fine buck
I would be telling her she just needs to spend more time in the field to strive to better her self

That is a Beaut. My first was my best as well. Taken north of Cochin Sask in early 90s. Never seen once that compares since. Glad she got a bruiser tho. Now she knows what can be out there.

Well that is a wrap and a pretty good season overall. Unfortunately my wife’s tag went un filled but she also had more encounters with mature bucks than everyone else. She is still fairly new to this so I will be spending sometime trying to help her improve on capitalizing on opportunities
Now there is nothing more to do then pack up my gear and start coming up with a game plan for the up coming season. I have already started scouting new locations and things look promising
Best of luck to those still out hunting

More common with easterners for sure but the hunters who I picked it up from were from families that had been in southern Alberta for generations
In the end I know what someone is talking about either way
I do get a kick out of how many have to post about it on this thread. Maybe I will use both methods of counting points in next year’s thread just to keep everyone on their toes
