Default Didn’t know this

Had talks with 2 biologists and a warden an was informed that in Alberta it is illegal to transport and relocate wildlife without a permit to do so. This includes such animals as skunks, squirrels, badger that are live trapped as pests. They must be euthanized on site.

I always had that one figured. But seems to me they turn a blind eye to this. It would be quite the undertaking to go find an officer in an office that is open to get the proper permit/authorization. By the time you got it done, your critter would probly be dead from heat prostration? Old age???

Just another ancient law that needs an update.

if they think i'm gonna ask for a permit before i take a skunk or 'coon for it's last ride, they're sadly mistaken.

It's a good thing that most of my pests are too "exhausted" to travel anyhow...

I Like to give most pests a good bath before they go on a long trip. You would be surprised how many of them do not do well when under water for a long time.

It makes sense, don’t want to take the chance or spreading disease. See in Ontario and BC they are dealing with that problem. Would be a disaster if it got into our coyote population.

When my aunt trapped a skunk she put it in her trunk and released it while I was waiting with a shouldered shotgun.

Wink

I once put to rest a trapped stink cat under my trailer....big mistake.

If pests are around the trap goes out to an area for a clean shot and no worries of a stench etc....

I once put a dead stink cat in the tool box of my bosses truck...still never figured out who did it

Makes sense, when that aspect is taken into consideration.
