Default I know the OP referred to Large Rifle primers, but...

Quote:
Cabelas has CCI #450 Small Rifle Magnum primers ONLINE ONLY... $14 per 100
Given the North American (worldwide ?) reloading component & ammo shortages for civilians, I think ~$15 is an acceptable "temporary" price. $9.99 is reasonable.

But I still think $11 - $12 is a premium... No justification for a 300% increase, over a 3-4 year period. It wasn't that long ago we were enjoying $5 per 100/sleeve.

I should be a nice guy and offer him 3 boxes at $1500 each, you know so he can upsell them and make $500 each. Lol

Heck I have 1000 Rem 9 1/2 M primers I'd let go for 1/2 that price

surely people are not that desperate or stupid to pay $2 per primer

Guess $2 a primer is better than having none. Worth whatever you're willing to pay
Never thought I'd pay $35 for a can of snuff and yet here we are
I remember over 20 years ago a 26 of whiskey in Tuk was $100
Buyers set the price

Some people are paying $7-10,000 or more every year to smoke, is that not desperate?

I'm not sure that's desperation more like addiction, just like alcohol or drugs, to each his own I guess $2 a primer may seem like a bargain

Exactly, either way the money is gone, one way you don't harm your health.

Cabela’s online has Federal 215M magnum match primers listed at $17.99/100pk, so $12 is still $6 below current advertised retail…. Oh ya, then there’s the fact that they don’t have any in stock, and Federal has announced no likely supply to the civilian market for at least another year, so factor that in and it’s not hard to see why prices are what they are…

Wait until the federal government targets ammunition and reloading components.

That’s already happening in ban states and socialist national governments

1 box of ammo per month limits, weird rules on components, ammo registries.

Hate to say it, but I’m sure the dipperlibs will target 223 and pistol ammunition next. They will say the guns are American but the ammo for crime is bought here (with absolutely no evidence to prove it). They know they can’t control the gun market so they will make it impossible for us to feed em.

As for who is paying…many stocked up ahead of the US election. But if you didn’t, or bought something new, you better pay the prices while you can get it.

I don’t believe reloading components will ever be what they were a year ago. Even if availability improves we won’t see $50/lb ever again.

And these same people will cry when the Government bans Firearms when they are part of the problem.

Anyone that has bought a new caliber and has to start from ground zero will pay through the nose for brass and powder if they don't have a stash, powder is starting to show up in stores again and at reasonable prices $80 / lb or so which doesn't seem reasonable if you bought powder at $45 / lb a couple years ago but it's better than paying the scalpers $150 / lb or like the guy on CGN that wants $2,000 for a brick of primers.

Everyone might as well forget about buying powder at $40/lb, and primers at $60/1000, because those days are gone for good. Even once the supply catches up with demand we can probably expect prices to settle at double those numbers. And this is if the liberals don't limit supplies and drive prices up even more. So if you need supplies, buy what you can when you can, from stores, not scalpers, and keep shooting. The same applies to factory loads, buy what you need for the next five years at a minimum, and at least you won't run out. For those of us that use large amounts, it's a lot tougher, as even 20,000 shotshells take up a lot of space to store, and a lot of investment. let alone a five year supply of 50,000 shotshells.

There's a Type 81 LMG for sale on townpost....for double what you can buy them for brand new from Tactical Imports, and they're in stock. But he says there's no more coming in (which is false) and that he doesn't see many unfired TYPE 81s for sale (gunpost has about 2 dozen listed right now unfired) so I guess that justifies paying twice as much!? Nothing like dropping 3k on a $1500 rifle that will be unusable in a few months once potato boy passes the new "laws".
The only silver lining I see with the upcoming ban is that all these clowns that bought up all these firearms to flip for massive profits will now be stuck with them, or have to settle for little to no profit.

It does seem weird when you see primers for $350/1000 and think wow that's a deal!

I have enough to keep me going for a bit, but I have often wondered what I will do when I run out. What will prices be.

I’ve said it for a long time. You don’t need to control guns if you control the Ammo.

Lots of people pay these prices. One of the major reasons is businesses taking their orders they receive from their suppliers, and moving them to auction instead of selling them through their existing stores. They make more money and the prices get even more inflated by the addition of the auction fee and taxes. Shady practices....YES!!

I sold two bricks of Federal Gold Medal Match 215 magnum large rifle primers about two months ago. I got chastised for asking $300 each for them. They sold almost immediately at $300 each. I have two more bricks of the same primers that I will sell if a rifle of mine sells. I will be asking $750 for each brick. And I have confidence that those two bricks will sell just as fast as the first two.

But don't blame me for asking that price. Because they will sell when there's none available. Supply & demand.
