You bet, 81 years young, one replaced knee and the other on the waiting list for surgery, ain’t no sitting around feeling sorry for himself too much life to live!
Great mentor.

He actually does all the leg work, gets permission to hunt various areas from landowners, scouts, sets up areas to ambush and when we get drawn we discuss when he feels it’s best to hunt for four days based on what he see’s.
The draws on average take 6-8 years and we have had some great past hunts, looking to many more too.

That’s a good thing to have a scouter nowadays as the biologist have pretty much destroyed our mule deer numbers. It’s just about impossible to find a big mule deer.

This was one target buck that we just couldn’t find, we were all over his stomping grounds, hopefully he survives as either my son or father in law are due to be drawn next season!
Can only hope.

And there was a time that you’d let that buck go as there were way bigger ones to shoot.

Yep! We put in a whole lot of hours this year hunting them bow and rifle. I scouted in august. Biggest buck I found on 2 different ranches I ended up getting with the bow. Nothing crazy just a nice deer. Dad gets tag soup as their simply wasn’t a single deer he was excited about. He was extremely disappointed, he grew up hunting this zone and knows it in and out. Finding a 180+ deer never used to be a challenge if you put in some time he says.

Congrats. Nice buck.

My son & I pulled our MD draw points and did 108. He got his first MD buck. We had seen a twin to the one you were looking for but he also evaded our search, until my son shot his. Then MD were running all over the place and he was too. Crazy how many can hide behind a rise of a ridge.

Mother nature & murphy conspired and took our 4 day hunt down to 2 days. Blizzard opening day and the Saturday. But happy the kid got one. Was thinking of a hail Mary last day trip for my tag but -18, snow and wind means try to fill a deer or moose tag close to home.

Best of luck to you guys on filling the tags
