Tire advise 570 Polaris Ranger
We purchased a new 570 Ranger, were told by the salesman the tires are poor and we should think of upgrading, were told to look for some take offs or buy some new ones.
The tires the unit comes with are... 4 ply 25 x 8-12 Carlisle 489 and 25 x 10-12 Carlisle 489
We will driving on a lot of rock/gravel, trails/cut lines and a lot of use in snow.
Any advise on what I should get?
Thanks Mike

Takes offs are most likely going to be oem tires off new machines that owners upgraded to when they got a new machine. I'd ask your salesman what tires they deal in. Can't imagine the price difference between take offs and new ones would be much different. I had some new tires put on a work machine and it was around 600$. not the most expensive or the cheapest but we never got a flat with them.

Between my cross shift and I, we put about 10,000 kms on the side by sides per season inspecting pipelines from spring to fall. Have had very good luck with the maxxis bighorn two tires.

Take offs will be oem tires, that won't gain you much, if anything, look at a good 6 ply tire, that will be more durable , and that will provide better traction. The Maxxis Bighorn would be a good choice for your application.

I would keep the factory tire on the factory rims and put them on for summers when you are driving more gravel roads. Get your new tires on a set of after market rims. In a matter of half hour you can swap rims/tires from one set to the next.
I run Zillas on mine good in mud and snow. Little rough on the hard gravel roads.

I suggest going to an 8 ply tire to avoid punctures from sticks and roots etc. Also I would go up an inch or 2 in size.

I ran bighorns on my RZR , my friend has them on his 570. They are a great tire. Smooth riding on hard pack and great traction in snow and mud .

Zillas are really good. Bought them for my Grizzly and made huge difference when plowing snow. Traded quad for Wolverine x4, got them to swap tires as there were same size. I have put 2400km on them in a machine that I'm over 2200lbs with family and gear. Been over some really rocky areas and regular trails and they are tough. Only thing that stops them is ground clearance.

I agree with the salesman that the 489 are poor tire. I also think mud lights are a poor tire after having a couple sets. I have Ams Slingshots on my 800 Ranger and really like them. I also run the tried and true old Bear Claws on my quad and I’m happy with them as well.

I've ran mudlite, careful there is a few different versions on my Honda 420 for years and love them no complaints. I have mega mayhem on my bigger honda and love these tires also. Checkout revco they were by far the cheapest I could find on most tires. Any upgrade will be a huge improvement to factory. How big can you go 27,28 etc? Not sure what clearance you have.

Anything but MudLites. They wear very fast and are prone to flats due to their flimsy carcass. If you buy a good 8 ply tire they will basically work as run flat tires. I have had factory Dunlops, Maxxis, GBC, Carlisle, and now I am running Kenda HTR radials- my fave so far.

Have an 09 ranger & have run factory tires for years. No flats, no punctures and goes anywhere I need it to go.

This is true , I ran stock tires on a 2013 Ranger midsize 800 and also a 2015 Ranger 570 full size and they took me everywhere I need or wanted to go. Never an issue with them. They don’t look sexy but they will do the job just fine

Run them off. They are a decent tire.
Take a spare if worried about it
