ATV Plow Advice
Looking for snow plow for 2021 Honda 520 Rubicon.
The local dealer is recommending a Honda made system but it's $1700 installed.
Any recommendations would be appreciated. I'm thinking 62 inch.

I had a Kolpin Plow on my Yamaha Viking and it worked well. The nice thing about them is they can be built to either 48” or 60” I got mine on sale for around $400 but that was a couple yrs ago

Seems pretty high priced to me. A quick Google search should give you some other options or look around for a used one if you have the time. I lucked out and got a 60" Koplin for free, the guy was going to throw it away.

ATV Plow
I bought a Kimpex Click-N-Go 2.0 ATV Plow from Recreational Power Sports
60″ ATV Steel Plow Kit: $1207.99 + GST just for the ease of installing and removing. I'm 77 years young and can install or remove this thing in about 2 minutes, unlike the 2 other plows I had that would involve me laying on the ground and putzing around for about 1/2 hour at least. I would definitely recommend it for the for this reason.

I had a Tusk Sub Zero plow on my 2007 Rubicon from Rocky Mtn ATV.
Solid blade, 1/8' steel and a replaceable cutting edge. Mounted under the quad, it had its own skid plate that it mounted to.

ATV Plow
I liked the belly mount Moose plow I had on my 2002 Honda Rubicon a lot better than the present front mount Warn plow on my 2013 Yamaha Grizzly.
The Moose maintained a level plow blade when angled. The Warn dips down on the near side when angled....simple geometry of the mounting system. The Warn has a lousy lift design when connected to the Grizzly Warn winch...it raises way too fast for precise control. I built an "A-frame" attachment with a boat trailer roller that I run a nylon strap (think seat belt material) over and down to the plow instead of the winch rope that had an almost direct pull to the plow in stock form. The A-frame roller slowed the plow lift down and it is now ideal.
If you are just plowing on concrete or asphalt, none of this matters. On gravel it matters a whole bunch, especially where you have several grade changes and other uneven areas.

i bought a used warn provantage plow with a push tube for 400 bucks. Bought the mount for my king quad. Im into my plow for less than 550 bucks. I would look at the used market to find a plow and buy the correct mount for your machine if you dont want to shell out over 1k for a plow.
My quad is a king quad 500 and i bought a 54" plow. Has done well for me.

I have same quad and I run the belly mounted moose plow. I like it and it pushes snow like a beast, I also have upgraded tires which is a big difference. A 60 inch blade is no problem for it.

Wouldn’t go smaller then 60”. Most time blade is angled so smaller path hence why east to push thru. I have a warn pro pivot they don’t sell anymore. Fricken luv this thing worth if u can find used as you can angle blade under load from seat of quad at touch if a button. Mid mount Warn here. Only pain is getting under quad to align and put 2 push pins in. Front mount will be easier to put on and off. Mine stays on all winter so no biggie but front more pain to initially install vs 4 bolts for mid mount. Mid mount better deals i find
I have a couple mid mounts. One for a moose blade universal and another for Honda if anyone looking for a mid mount brackets as i sold my Honda for a yammy

54" Warn going on year 22 and all I have ever done is replace the wear bar.
I have a huge drive way that drifts in bad so it has had some hard work every winter. Yamaha 450 and never had an issue with the quad or the plow.

I run a 60" on a 500 traxter w chains on all four...great setup...for years I had issues with winch cables breaking...multiple times a season.... I found a work around. Get yourself a 12' winch strap w hook attached. These are cheap at cdn tire or P A... 12 ft is longer than you need to I cut mine to 7' and folded over and sewed a loop on the tail end.. spool out 8-9' of your winch cable and using a zip tie secure your new strap around the cable. Then start winding the strap and cable on the drum making sure the keep the cable as centered on the strap as possible once you get a couple winds around the spool ot becomes less important. Once it's all together you should have the strap hook to attach to your plow and 1-2 feet of slack cable. As long as you have a few solid wraps on the drum the strap will never slip and you never have any tension on the cable...after season just remove your spliced in strap and your back to just your cable that has had no actual load on it all winter.
