Question Threaded Muzzle Break Cap

So I have a Savage Model 10 heavy barrel, .308 cal, and it has an installed muzzle break on it.

After doing a bit of reading and such, I wouldn't mind having a threaded cap I could install on it instead and switch it out.
I could see the bigger calibers like a 300 win mag causing bigger concussion waves and more sound back than a 308, but still think it would a nice thing to have if I (or other people on the range) get tired of it.

Does anyone know where you can buy one?
Ive googled a bit and have not found anything

Thanks

That would depend on if it is an aftermarket brake or a factory.
if it is a factory brake I'm sure Mystic Precision or any other shop can order you one.
If you do not know the brand, take it to a gunsmith and he may be able to determine the brand or give you a quote on fabbing up a cap.

Try googling "thread protector".

But if you buy a generic protector, it won't look good. Better looking solution is to take it to a smith and have one made to match your barrel contour.

Either way, you will need to unscrew the brake and measure the diameter, thread pitch, and length.

If you know these things and the barrel od perhaps a machinist or hobbyist could help you out.

if it's just for the range go ahead and pick one of these guys up

then the threads are safe and you can screw your muzzle brake on after you're done

You need to know the thread pitch and diameter . the most common is 1/2 - 28tpi
