Sounds like a good place to take my 4 y/o son to fish. Is it a standard AB trout pond ruling......any size, limit of 5?

I understand the importance and support the preservation of this new pond and letting the fish develop, but if a 4 year old hooks into a fish, he wants to keep it, take it hope and likely hold onto it in the car!

That's a very nice rainbow.

im wondering if the Fort will allow ice fishing in the pond.

Be nice to get a canoe in there in the fall I'd imagine.

I don't see why they wouldn't allow it.

That being said, even though it's a terribly pathetic place to go ice fishing, I can see myself fishing Hermitage a for a quick fix a couple times this winter just because it's about a 2 minute drive from where I live

Nice to see they are still there and perhaps catchable beofre freeze over. May get my quick last fix then before packing away my flyrod. Anyone hear if Beaumont still has trout or is it fished dry by now?

Mmmmmmmm slough bottom...

Cannot personally confirm this as i've never attempted it, but i hear that if you soak the meat overnight in milk it can help eliviate some of that wholesome slough bottom goodness...

I honestly never goto trout ponds, is it standard for people to keep them??? by standard I'd say, about 50-60% of people.

I wanted to try one, so the one in the last pic I tried...looked ok tasted disgusting. It looks like there are about 8 spots that are circulating water, so I dont know how the ice will be. You can see them all when there is a light breeze.

Next time load the inside with garlic, onions, lemon pepper, butter, and wrap it in tin foil and put it on the BBQ.

Or soak the whole damn fish in zesty Italian dressing over night

Also cut all the fat off the bottom of the belly and the fat under the dorsal fin. Soaking in milk can help but some are just muddy no matter what.

AB is right too, the tin foil bbq method helps too.

Thumbs up Smoked Rainbows

Sound advise Axeman. When you got time fire up the smoke house for more of the smoked rainbows. Last year's run was sure good to eat. Trade mark the recipe you used. mmmmm......good..........

Stopped by there today about 11am. Very nice setup indeed. Was only one guy there in a pontoon or tube not sure which as he was way on east end.

Blue Dodge in parking lot. Sure is a trusting guy,had a rod with bobber on it sticking out the top of box. Was going to lay it down for him in case he had forgot, but a car came by and i didnt want anyone getting wrong ideas about what i was doing.

Sure is a nice size place though. Hope its kept up. I noticed coffee cups and trash in the reeds along the edge in the water already, right by the aerator. Very sad. Couldnt pick them up as they were in the water and didnt have right foot wear for that.

could also have been blown in with the huge winds we have been getting this year.

Any time ive been there, i really dont see alot of traffic in the area. Its a nice place for some relaxation for sure.
