I read an old book I had on Jasper Park warden in 50's. He said they had hard time keeping marten trappers out of the park not just sheep hunters. Mentioned the trappers were getting $100 a marten in 1950,s. Works out to around $1000 in todays money $$.
Read about Jimmy Simpson who was a trapper- outfitter in that area. He lived in Jasper and developed Num-Ti-Jah lodge at Bow lake, which I think is still in operation.
Jasper wardens talked that some wardens often looked the other way for extra money$$ consideration. When a trapper gets equivalent of $1000 a pelt lots of money to go around for everyone when harvesting the Queens wildlife.
How is everyones marten numbers. Both me and partner had very good catches in November but dropped off at end of month. It was not due to heavy snow and cold weather. Gordie Klassen had some good explanation few years back. My theory is lots of lynx and higher fisher numbers.

Chatting with a few other trappers around Rocky and early Nov. was real slow. It’s started to pick up for me with the colder weather.
