Late 60,s early 70's sometime, I tried my first cast on a baitcaster. It was like the ones your describing. Made in early 60's with no magnets or frills. First cast, first birdsnest. That was last birdsnest I have had since and and also the one and only cast. I had to cut all the line off to clear it.

Haven't had the desire to try another one since. I imagine they have come a long way since, but still no desire.

lol...they were special
the nice steel handles on the rods were good too.....i wonder how many people cast the whole outfit in the lake......by accident
