Default Help understanding lake location

I have been going through the fishing regs, and for some lakes it shows numbers beside it.
example-Aster Lake (5-19-9-W5)

Can anyone explain what the numbers mean and how I could use them to locate different lakes.

Thanks!!!!

This is a grid system that is used in alberta.

It is hard to explain but I can email you a pdf. file that shows is clearly. If you would like to send me a private message with your email I will send it to you.

I would be happy to post this on the forum if someone can explain how to insert a pdf file on the forum.

Here is a site that is supposed to convert into lat and long coordinates. I couldn't get it to work and not sure what I was doing wrong.

This one is the best one I've found:
http://www.baseloc.com/dls/

If there's only 3 numbers before the meridian, just enter a 1 on the website. It will get you close enough.

If you go to Alberta SRD website, under maps, forms & publications , air photo distribution, you will see legal land descriptions, it explains how a TP and a section and quarters are laid out on the maps, and an example of an LSD and how to break it down. Quarter section numbers go in front of the section number shown in their example.
