Default WMU 414 elk/wolf

Hey all

obviously not looking for anybody's spots or any information really... I'm a fairly new hunter, only been hunting for 2 years. My dad and I plan on going out next week for the elk opening with some friends. We'll be both on horseback and on foot. Just wondering if there is any significant elk population or any sightings in 414? Really just planning on getting out for fun, not realistically expecting an elk at all, but we'll also be purchasing a whitey tag too. Also, are there many wolves in the area? Wouldn't mind helping to clean up a few either...

Thanks!

Hey, never seen any elk in 414, lots of quads, seen a nice bull and 2 cows last year in 416 near Mccue creek where all those logging clear cuts are, I think this is a draw tag, best of luck

the grizzly bear part is a bit unnerving, been hearing there's lots of them out that way, but oh well!

Got horses? head up the North Burnt Timber. Tough haul over the Sheep Creek hill, but worth it. Good riding. Never seen much for elk there though and a notorious Grizz hangout as well.

Awesome, i'll check into that, thanks. There will be a group of roughly about 10 of us, and only three horses, so some will obviously be walking and some on horseback.
Any significant wolves out there?

10 of you? Is this a game drive or a hunt? Lots of wolves. You might never see one despite that.

We got the draw in 416 and we'll be heading out this Thursday. I'll be hunting whitetail with my crossbow and the hubbie will be going after elk
