Default Blue Jay nest

Friends out at Wab had Jays take up roost in a pine tree in their yard. Very well camouflaged, only realized they were there when the male brought food. Pic from an 8 foot ladder reaching, mother and father were near by but didn't seem perturbed by us being there. We didn't interfere with the nest, but it looked like the chicks were freshly hatched, still one egg that wasn't hatched.

Many years ago I caught a blue jay. Had it trapped in an enclosure. I still don't know how it escaped.
They make a pile of noise. Almost as much as a magpie.
Catch one of the young and you have an entire herd on your case.

They are a good looking bird though and I mean them no harm.
