Default Ruger American

I have read several reviews on the Ruger American and they seem to be alright but do any of you have experience with this rifle? Let me know your thoughts as I am a Ruger junkie and might consider picking one up.

I was as well. Thought I would pick up another .243. Only one off the shelf with a 9 inch twist that I've seen.

I am a ruger junky as well and I think that American is just another savage piece of **** to be honest. I wouldn't buy one, still with the tried and true m77

Default Yeah

I have a nice Ruger 30-06 as well but just looking for something smaller for deer and yotes like a .243. Don't want to spend a lot of money as it will likely be a "secondary" gun as the majority of my hunting is with the 30-06. I have shot the Axis and as long as you don't think you are getting lightning in a bottle and you are realistic about what you are getting you won't be disappointed. If that is the same for the American I am alright with that.

I'm a ruger junky as well and am disappointed in the look of the American. I do have a savage 111 in a 30-06 and it's a tack driver and wouldn't give it up. If you like the look of it give it a try. It's rugers answer to the cheaper line of rifles.
