Default Perch depth

Hey I was wondering where everyone is catching their perch depth wise, was thinking of trying for perch somewhere off shore with a bobber and j hook and bait, but I'm not sure if that's a good idea or if they are deep right now, thank in advance for any advice!

If you are going to be releasing any, please fish in less than 23 feet - 25' or so.

You can start shallow and work deeper till you find the depth.

And if you are going to keep any you catch then depth doesn't matter.

When I fish, (almost all species), I start shallow and work out deeper till I find what depth they are at.

Hope that helps a bit.

I was nailing nice perch 10 to 13 inchers a couple weeks ago at Lake X in 15 to 16 FOW. Was using a tiny chartreuse jighead with a piece of dew worm on it.

Usually when I go out I seem to find them in 12-14' of water and catch in the 3-5' depth

cast out to deep water and retrieve to shallow water. Watch for follows. Once you have follow you can chose a depth to fish at. Otherwise I have always just anchored...test fish for about 15 minutes... no bites move on. If you have a fish finder it can help a lot.

Always consider trying a slow upward wiggle retrieve.

I'm really hoping I can go somewhere on shore, I used to be able to go to medicine lake and cast off shore literally 15 feet from myself and catch all sorts of perch, but maybe this is a bad time of year to expect that anywhere?
