Default Selling your data....

60 minutes ,interesting on companies accumulating your on line
Data and selling it. I could see gun ownership data being a commodity
I found this kinda creepy as in someone going through your mail.

The anti,s would like to have that info about you . Can your IP address
Be tracked say off of this forum . If the story is true , than the data brokers

Not showing any tracking cookies off this site. Many have bots on their sites.
Your link has 5 tracking cookies. That is life on the internet. Some sites have as many as 15 tracking cookies. You can use Virtual Private Network services to hide your IP address, but, they can be tracked down, if it is worth it, to whoever is seeking the info.
There are a few browser add-ons that will show you what tracking cookies are on a site you are looking at, Ghostery is the one I use. It is enlightening.

didn't see the 60 min. show but about 5 years ago i read a book called "broken window" (fictional crime/action) by jeffery deaver and he wrote a lot about "data miners" that do nothing else but collect data about everyone and then sell the data. in the book it was mind boggling the amount of data collected about people and how it was used.

"The antis" are not trying to build a database of gun owners.

The CPC is very interested in building a database of people that can be swayed with a single issue. Congratulations on making it easy for them.

Ok I posted something on here several years ago during the height of the first Open Spaces run around. I had some info I had posted while at home before I left for work. An hour later I fielded a call at work from a guy that said he was an MLA from up north and that he wanted to know where I had gotten my info. I asked him where he had gotten my contact info from. I was told it wasn't important and the leak of info was more important. Did he somehow get my contact info from this site or somewhere else. Who knows what info is available from any site you frequent.

Your IP address is easy obtained unless you take steps to disguise it.

Welcome to the world of IT, Facebook and the sorts love to sell your info., just look at the ads on your browser... guess where they got that from. It will only get worse as offenders of privacy only get a slap on the wrist... if you're lucky, often they don't receive any punishment for violations. Just give inaccurate info then they'll be marketing to your fictitious persona. There is all types of info you can obtain on people.... all for the looking.

On the other hand are the liberals or NDP or PQ not doing this? Doubtful. I just like how you guys tend to ascribe all these dirty political moves to "liberals" while ignoring the fact your "team" gets up to all the same stuff.

It's plain your allegiance is to your team not to values or ideas.
